New Beginnings

Greetings, fellow classmates!  It was nice meeting some of you and getting reacquainted with the rest of you.

I guess we all concur that we felt a little overwhelmed when we first read the course requirements today.  Who wouldn't be overwhelmed?  The responsibilities of juggling a full-time teaching career, family, and social life is enough to exhaust anyone.  When you throw in a full graduate course load on top of all those things, it's easy to feel in over your head.  At least we can feel overwhelmed together.

I have no doubt that all the assignments will help me become a better teacher.  I appreciate that the assignments were mapped out on a calendar.  It helps me to stay organized.  I also like the fact that this course is partially an online course.  I live about an hour away from the University of Guam, so the drive is pretty tiresome in itself.  The class forum on Moodle helps keep me on my toes, as does the blog.  I enjoy reviewing work done by classmates.

With that said, I wish you all a wonderful weekend.  Here's to a great semester!

  1. You are awesome, Katrina! I am glad this is a hybrid class too because it takes the burden off of driving to class every week. Looking forward to working with you. :)

    1. That is really true. Taking courses online takes the burden off of driving to class every week. However, we sometimes abuse our privilege of having our own time and we sometimes tend to use it to do other things instead. And sometimes we end up, trying to find the time or not having the time to do our work for the class.

  2. I have no doubt too that all the assignments will help us become better teachers. I also appreciate that the assignments were mapped out on a calendar. It is a big help if we follow and stick with it. I also like the fact that this course is partially an online course and at the same time I also scare if I misuse my time for the online session. I am not that good dealing with time management and that what makes me scare for having the class online.

  3. It's great how you pointed out that this will help you become a better teacher. With all the different roles and responsibilities we have throughout the day, sometimes it's easy to loose sight of why we continue to put ourselves through MORE schooling.

Educating others is the career we chose. It is what we feel passionate about. Seeking out opportunities to become better at what we do for those we do it for is just how we roll! I'm glad to be in a class with others who understand that.

    Thanks for the sharing!

  4. I am happy to see you again Katrina! I am glad too that this is a hybrid course and it will make things so much easier for everyone, especially those of you who live in the northern and southern parts. I see where you are coming from Katrina. When I was working with GEIS, I had to drive to Agat everyday from Chalan Pago and the drive is tiresome. Meeting once a meet face-to-face makes it easier for everyone. I like how Jodi puts it. This is how we roll as teachers. We will go above and beyond to better ourselves and get the experiences to help our students. Thank you all for sharing! Have a great week!
