This class session was very informative. What I found to be the most valuable to me was the importance of interaction in the classroom and the consideration of the different features (cultural, emotional, and social) that have an effect on learning.
My school has recently begun departmentalizing for math. All of my students are ESL students. There are many times when I feel discouraged because they don't seem to be picking up concepts as easily and I wonder what else I could do to adjust my teaching to allow them to succeed.
Reading the first chapter and then discussing the second chapter in class has really been an eye-opener for me and has made me think of strategies to use to better assist all my students, particularly my ESL students

The second chapter was informative. I especially liked hoe it discussed how to become an observer in your own classroom, as well as effective strategies that you can use. I appreciate texts that have information that is applicable to our jobs as teachers.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true. We as teachers like to use strategies that are best fit our student's ability and level of learning so they can understand the lesson for the day or what we try to teach them for the day. We want strategies that can lead both students and teachers for success.
DeleteI love learning different learning strategies. Every time I learn a new strategy, I'm like a kid opening a present during christmas. I really enjoy seeing my students using those learning strategies to achieve our learning goal.
